Lopburi Thailand Monkeys

How to get to Lopburi, Thailand from Bankok, Thailand.

So, you want to hangout with monkeys in Lopburi? It's guaranteed to be a great time and an awesome experience. Here are some tips on how to get to Lopburi from Bangkok.

Duration: 3 Hours

Price: 28-123 Baht ($.90-$3.00 USD) Each way. This depends on what time you want to leave the the quality of train you wish to take.

Getting to Lopburi from Bangkok:

Getting to Lopburi is simple. All you need to do is go to Hua Lamphong Train Station early in the morning. You can buy your tickets at the station. No need to buy online. Also, keep in mind Hua Lamphong is a MRT stop as well. You can take the MRT to Hua Lamphong and walk the tunnel to exit directly into the Bangkok Train Station.

The last train leaves Lopburi at 6:00pm. If you don't catch that train, you will be forced to stay in Lopburi until the next day. You can buy your return ticket at 5:15-5:30pm. They will not allow you to buy your return ticket when you arrive.

I recommend leaving Bangkok as early as possible as you need to leave Lopburi at 6pm. This means you can have a max of 10 hours in Lopburi. 10 hours is PLENTY of time. You will see everything the town has to offer in about 3 hours.

Where are the monkeys located in Lopburi, Thailand?

Now that you are in Lopburi, you want to see the monkeys right? Well you are in luck, the monkeys have overran large portions of downtown. The monkeys are such a big "problem" that vendors have to lock themselves and their products in cages so the monkeys don't steal their goods.

Most of the monkeys are located at and around the Phra Prang Sam Yod Shrine. Better known as The Monkey Temple. Phra Prang Sam Yod Shrine is only a 6 min walk from the train station. You can either pay to enter the Shrine's grounds and get attacked by monkeys wanting food. OR you can walk around the area and socialize with your new friends. The monkeys flood the streets within a two block radius of the Phra Prang Sam Yod Shrine.

Tip: There will be people outside the train station that will offer Tuk Tuk rides to see the monkeys. You can do this if you like, however it's only a short walk. Plus you get to see the city.
